I know what you're thinking as you attempt your first Chegg login. What the heck is Chegg? Visit the Web site Chegg.com and you'll find a not-so-subtle appeal to the social anxieties of its largely adolescent target audience. The majority of the home page is taken up by a looping montage of college students bantering, studying, courting, getting help from a friend, and of course, scrolling down the Chegg Home page. A caption over all of these images of ostensibly contented, if socially awkward and casually-dressed models reads, “Everything is figureoutable”(sic).
Thus, we can understand why you're confused. I'm writing an article on this thing, and frankly, I'm confused. But you know what? We're going to be like Chegg for a moment. That means we're going to figure out this shameless attempt to market to preppy high-schoolers and young college students together. Because, as the Chegg Slogan goes, “Everything is figureoutable”.
What Is Chegg?
You're probably still wondering, as we are, what the heck Chegg is, as you attempt your very first Chegg login. Let's start with the name. You're probably thinking that it was a crazy idea that one of the student-models pictured in the video came up with when they were really drunk at college.
“Let's combine two words,” they said. And thus, the word “Chegg” was formed. I know what you're thinking. It wasn't “Chug!” and “Keg.” That would be too obvious. Well, they probably did come up with Chegg from slurring the words “Chug” and “Keg,” just between you, me and the keg. But we're kind of obligated to tell everyone the company line, and that is simply that the word Chegg is derived from the words “Chicken” and “Egg.” Because that makes a whole lot more sense, right?
But let me level with you for a moment. I honestly have no idea who is paying me to write this article, and I'm okay with that. But I really feel for you if you're reading this. Because the fact that you're reading this somewhere out there in internet cyberspace tells me one of two things. You're so ridiculously bored out of your mind that your ADD is preventing you from getting anything else done. Perhaps you came to this post by searching “can't focus.”
What worries me most of all about you reading this is that, ostensibly, you're at some kind of institution of higher learning, be that high school or undergraduate college. Perhaps you're even seeking a Masters Degree or a Doctorate. And for some reason, despite the fact that you are pursuing studies so far beyond most people's comprehension – you're turning to a Web site whose slogan is “Everything is figureoutable.”
And again, our time together is short, so let me get straight to the point here. If you need to read a set of instructions to log on to a Web site, perhaps – just perhaps – school is not your thing. Think about it. You can't log on to a Web site without a set of instructions. In the time you've begun reading, most people would have already logged in and out twenty times. And yet, here we are. But don't worry. We'll get you logged in so you can start Chegging as soon as possible.
Word to the wise before we begin; try to understand the material first yourself. Nobody in life gives you the answers to life's most important questions, and so if you rely on Chegg to spoon-feed you the answers you need for your homework, you'll never be able to learn anything for yourself. So be cognizant of the fact that using Chegg the wrong way might actually help you not learn how to learn, which is really one of the most important lessons of all. I know, mind blow, right? And anyone who brands their Web site “Everything is figureoutable” clearly has no interest in helping you learn how to speak English. But that's just the opinion of this author, and does not in any way reflect the opinions of whoever commissioned this article. But seriously - how are you going to hire a Chegg tutor to help you log on to Chegg - if you can't log on first to hire the tutor? We'll get to your Chegg login soon.
Chegg Company Profile
So, before we get to your Chegg login, I just wanted to give you the dirt behind Chegg. Cool with you? Okay.
Chegg Then and Now: Humble Beginnings
Chegg was founded by this Indian dude named Aayush Phumbhra who apparently was frustrated that his college bookstore didn't have the books he wanted. He initially founded Chegg to give students the option to rent rather than buy books. Because you can't really patent the idea of renting books, Chegg has since fallen behind other companies that decided to do the same thing. Now, most college bookstores rent books. So, having the book rental market stolen from them for lack of capital, Chegg has adapted in order to survive.
Chegg Then And Now: Chegg in Today's Competitive Marketplace
Today's Chegg provides a number of important services to college students, despite the quirky name and marketing. Remember, it couldn't compete on book rentals alone in the highly competitive text market. I promise, we'll help you log onto that site with all the cool-looking kids in the video loop. But before we get to your Chegg login, we're going to go over what you'll be able to do with your Chegg login, because the site has some pretty cool features, and we don't want you to miss out!
