Satellite radio has been around for some time now. It continues to provide superior audio quality over what traditional on-air broadcast radio offers. In terms of service providers, you only have one real option. SiriusXM radio is the combination of both Sirius and XM. The two started out as competitors before merging together. If you decide to opt into satellite radio, you'll need to obtain a Sirius radio login. While you may not need to access your Sirius radio login all that often, you will need to know how to use it.

Before you look into how to create a Sirius radio login or how to sign into your account, you need to know a bit of the back story behind the company and how it came to be. Sirius first came into existence all the way back in 1990, when founder Rothblatt created what is known as Satellite CD Radio. The company partitioned off some unused radio frequencies from the United States government and this allowed the business the ability to create satellite broadcast radio.
In 1992, Rothblatt stood down and a NASA engineer who created the satellite used to send out the wireless signal across the globe took over. Just six months later though, David Margolese, who created Rogers Wireless, took over. David then spent the better part of the following five years lobbying the United States government to build a full three-orbital satellite system around the globe. This would, in turn, allow the satellite radio to beam not only in every corner of the United States but around the world.
In order for an international satellite broadcast to work, there needs to be three satellites. The three satellites form a triangle and the globe sits in the middle of the triangle. Each satellite is in a constant line of sight with the other two satellites. This way, it is possible to bounce information from one satellite to the next and to bounce the signal down to earth.
The Creation of Satellite Radio
During the five-year period, over $1.6 billion was raised to launch the other two satellites. In 1997, XM Satellite Radio came about as the FCC sold the company the license. Satellite CD Radio changed its name to Sirius Satellite Radio. The company decided to do this because it saw the dwindling use of CDs as a means of listening to music and did not want to be associated with the dying format. This is why the company changed its name to Sirius Satellite.
Despite all the shifts, the satellite radio did not go mainstream until February 2002, with the entire United States receiving full coverage later in the year. While new technology and new services continued to roll out over the following several years, Sirius and XM officially announced a merger in 2007. This combined the total 14 million United States subscribers (while Sirius had a higher street value, XM brought with it more customers).
The two companies did need to request approval for the merger from the United States Justice Department because by merging, the new company essentially became a monopoly. The National Association of Broadcasters fought against the merger, but this ultimately failed.
Recent Years
In more recent years, the company nearly ran into bankruptcy in 2008. This happened because Sirius XM had signed strong contracts with most major auto manufacturers in the United States. If you've purchased a new vehicle, especially if you purchased a new vehicle in the mid to later 2000s, it likely came with a free Sirius XM subscription. However, the auto industry took a major hit at this point in time, which not only reduced the number of vehicles sold but it also reduced the number of new clients (the majority of new clients come from car sales and customers who sign up for extended service).
Despite this, the company managed to avoid filing for bankruptcy and now the company has over 30 million subscribers. In fact, in September 2018, the company announced it wanted to purchase the audio streaming service Pandora for $3.5 billion.
Membership, Programming, & More

If you're interested in using the Sirius radio login, chances are you have some kind of experience with the service. It's possible you received a free subscription (for six months to a year) after purchasing a new vehicle. Even some used car companies have deals with Sirius XM to provide trial services. However, if you want to sign up after your free trial has ended, or if you just want to sign up now without having any experience with the service, you need to know what the membership comes with.

It is important to note that some service prices will change over time, so what is quoted here might not be the same when you go to sign up. You will need to head over to the Sirius radio login page and look for the exact programming offered at the time you decide to sign up (this is current as of December 2018).
There is the Sirius XM All Access Subscription. This runs at $8.25 a month for a 12-month subscription (if you go month-to-month, the price for this jumps up to $20.99 a month). Or, you can go with the Select Subscription for $5 a month for 12 months (or $15.99 a month), which is the 140 channels in your vehicle and not the computer- or app-based option.
Sirius Radio Login & Online Resources
If you are interested in creating an account and signing up for the service, you will need to use the Sirius radio login. This is easy enough to do and all you must do is follow a few basic steps. Before you know it, you'll be enjoying your favorite tunes streaming straight to you from satellites.
Signing Up for the Service
Once you've decided to use the Sirius radio login and create an account, you must head over to the SiriusXM.com website. From there, click the "Subscribe Today" option. The website will now bring you to a new website. It will inform you whether you already have satellite radio built into your car or if you'll need to obtain a device to be installed into your vehicle. If you have a vehicle made within the last 10 years or so, chances are it can receive satellite radio, so this is only a problem if you have a vehicle that is pre-2008.
In order to find out if satellite radio is available within your vehicle you must choose the "My Radio ID or VIN", then type in your VIN number into the search block. If you have received a free trial through the company you purchased your vehicle from, you'll also need to enter this information so that Sirius XM can look you up.
After you have typed in the information, click "Continue." The website will identify your vehicle based on the VIN you entered and let you know your vehicle is good to go. If you need a radio addition to receive satellite within your vehicle, you will need to choose which kind of radio you'd like to be installed into your vehicle.
If you don't need a radio installation, you can fill out your customer bio. This includes the package you want, plus your billing information, mailing address, and some other basic account information. After you submit the account information, you'll be good to go and your account will go live.
Logging into Your Account
When it comes time to pay for your monthly service, you have a few options. One way is you can mail out a payment to the company. Or you can log into your account online and make a payment this way. This by far is the easiest way to pay and take care of your account.
To pay your bill online, head over to the Sirius XM website and when prompted by the Sirius radio login page, you'll want to type in your email address and the password you created. From here, just add in your credit card information and submit.
